Dr. Darian specializes in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults with learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, behavioral disorders (e.g. ADHD), autism, and other developmental disabilities. She provides strategies to reduce test anxiety and improve study skills. Dr. Darian provides parent behavioral training and child advocacy.
Dr. Darian is both a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist. She received her doctorate in psychology with a strong emphasis on interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She has experience in a variety of settings including primary and secondary schools, a special-needs school that utilizes Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodologies for children with developmental disabilities, a university-based advisement center, outpatient mental health facilities, and a hospital. Dr. Darian has been both a team member and chairperson in many Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings, and has expertise in eligibility, creation, and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 plans. Dr. Darian advocates on behalf of children so that they can receive the services they're entitled to pursuant to New York State Law.
